Description:
Nowadays, more and more people are interested in water issues all over the world. There was the 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Beppu city, Japan last year and this year there will be Zaragoza EXPO which has the theme of “Water and Sustainable Development” in Spain. Furthermore, there will be the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul, Turkey, 2009.
We cannot think about future sustainable society without from the viewpoint of water environment. Thus, young generations, namely future leaders should be aware of water issues all over the world. In this Youth World Water Summit, therefore, participants are all youths from different countries and they share the water issues of their countries. After sharing the water issues of their countries, they make action plans not just for youths who are interested in water issues, but also for the ordinary young people in their countries. Finally, the shared water issues of each country and each action plan will be published as a magazine and be distributed at the Zaragoza EXPO, the 5th World Water Forum and on the website of NGOs all over the world.

Participants: Overseas students in Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University, Youths who are going to be involved in World Water Forum
Estimated number: Discussion: 2-3members/country (13-15countries), Presentation: 400-450 members
